  • Joan came to the role of Funeral celebrant with a commitment to providing personalised funerals. She works flexibly with funeral directors and families to design and conduct funerals that are unique, have personal meaning and reflect attention to detail.

Joan’s work is informed by experiences of death in her family from the age of 8 and her involvement in bereavement counselling for many years. Insight from personal experience helps Joan to work with compassion and kindness respecting the need for choice and the importance of involvement in funeral planning and funeral services.

Trained in public speaking, psychotherapy and bereavement counselling, with a love of music and appreciation of the written and spoken word Joan is able to offer funerals with dignity and grace which allow time and space for reflection and feelings and which mark the end of a life in a respectful, loving and creative way.

  • Testimonials:

"Thank you so much for all that you have done for Pa’s funeral. It was a wonderful send off and made possible by your very thoughtful organisation and compassionate reading and to have a copy of all that was said is lovely. I forgot to thank you for springing my ‘second’ memories on you so late in the day, it was however very nice to know you were there to help should I have needed it."

"As a family, we wanted to thank you very much for the part you played in Harry’s funeral. You conducted the service with great respect and sensitivity. Despite never having met Harry, you spoke with such care, warmth and kindness it was as if you had known him personally."
"We wanted to let you know how much we appreciated your help, guidance and delivery of service for dad's funeral. So many people of multiple faiths remarked on how nice the service was and how impressed they were with your leadership. Lizzie and myself, of course, had no doubts and we know it was just as dad would of wanted"
